An anonymous member of the Board of Managers has challenged the Classes of 1995–2003 to collectively give $150,000 to Haverford’s Annual Fund by December 31. If the goal is met, the challenger will match it with another $150,000.
What does $150,000 in the Annual Fund do for Haverford? A lot! Your gifts to the College add up to help make the undergraduate experience vibrant and meaningful. For example:
$10,000 (or 400 gifts of $25 each)
The Annual Fund supports all academic departments and programs.
Supplies for an organic chemistry lab can easily reach as high as $10,000 for Erlenmeyer flasks, molecular model kits, chemicals, and equipment–each item ranging from $25 to more than $1,500.
$25,000 (or 50 gifts of $500)
The Annual Fund supports athletic teams and programs.
Athletic teams’ costs for new jerseys and equipment each year ranges from $500 to $11,000 per team, depending on the needs that year.
$50,000 (or 27 gifts of $1,833)
The Annual Fund supports the need-blind admission policy.
Haverford meets the demonstrated financial need of all admitted applicants, regardless of their ability to pay. The median financial aid award is $41,700.
Gifts of all sizes support traditions that embody what it means to Be Haverfordian, like academic excellence, self-governance and a community rooted in Quaker traditions. The power of the Haverford community rests in collective action.
